My Favourite Homemade Chocolate Cake Recipe

MY FAVOURITE HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CAKE RECIPE

When it comes to celebrating a special occasion, there is nothing better than tucking into a slice of classic chocolate cake. The ultimate indulgence, takes this dessert to the next level. It’s the perfect thing to whip up for an unexpected guest or bring to a holiday party.

INGREDIENTS

For the sauce and cake

  • 2 egg
  • 150 gr granulated sugar
  • 1 cup milk ( 240 ml)
  • 1 cup sunflower or vegetable oil ( 240 ml)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder

For the cake

  • 1 sachet vanilla sugar (5 gr) or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 sachet baking powder (5 gr) or 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cup all-purpose flour (280gr)
  • 1 cup granulated roasted hazelnuts (100gr)

For decoration

  • Coconut flakes
METHOD
  1. Preheat your oven to 180C (160 fan) or gas mark 4 and prepare your baking pan by greasing with plenty of butter or cooking sprey
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, sugar, milk, oil and cocoa powder and mix well
  3. Take 1 cup from this mixture and set aside at room temperature. We will use it as a sauce later.
  4. Add vanilla, baking powder, flour and hazelnuts into the bowl and mix well.
  5. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool completely, still in its pan, before pouring the sauce.
  7. Transfer the cake to a serving plate and pour the sauce
NOTES

Once completely cooled, you can decorate your cake with your preferred sprinkles, I use coconut flakes
